Ways To Help Us
We receive no external funding so all money needed to run the rescue we raise ourselves. This is mainly through providing ferret racing at events and offering ferret holiday boarding. For these we ask for a reasonable donation in exchange. Other donations as a result are gratefully accepted.
Donations: To send a donation by PayPal, please send it to info@purbeckferretrescue.org.uk as “friends and family”, not “goods and services”. If you make a donation as ”goods and services” PayPal deducts a fee. Sending by ”friends and family” means we receive all of your money.
Gift certificates: Gift certificates can be purchased from some of our suppliers which they will email to us. Just quote info@purbeckferretrescue.org.uk as our email address when asked.

Helping at events: As part of our fundraising efforts, we attend events throughout the year. These are mainly in Dorset and the summer months mean we are off ferret racing most weekends. Events range from corporate days and weddings to village fetes, carnivals and country shows.
We have a small team of friendly volunteers but extra help is always useful, even if it is just making the tea. Everyone does what they feel comfortable with, whether that is chatting to the public about ferrets, helping with the ferret racing, selling stock or keeping an eye on the stand. You do not need any experience nor do you need to own ferrets. Your own transport is helpful though. You can choose which events you wish to help at. We operate a private Facebook group to manage our events but can provide details by alternative means if you do not use Facebook.
Helping at the rescue: Help at the rescue is also welcomed. This can involve cleaning out pens, handling ferrets, nail clipping, weighing, photo sessions and painting when needed. We are a home based rescue so visits are on a prearranged basis only. Most of our ferrets are in walk in pens which can be daunting for some people but we usually have some other housing in use as well. We like to meet anyone interested in helping at the rescue in advance.
