The Animal and Plant Health Agency emailed the information below to all UK ferret rescues on Monday 21 December 2021.

As you may be aware, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 in people, has been isolated in farmed mink in several countries in the world. Ferrets belong to the same family as mink, and they could also be susceptible to SARS-CoV-2. The guidelines enclosed in this link below describe the precautions that ferret handlers should take in order to minimise the spread of the virus.

The link will be updated as needed and you should re-check it regularly to ensure you have access to the most recent information and guidelines available.
